"the journey within: Maximizing your potential as an advocate"
The ability to advocate for oneself or others effectively, is one of the most important skills one can develop. In this lecture, you will explore what lies at the core of being an effective advocate , openness with oneself and then openness with those around you. You will discover how acknowledging your own struggles and learning more about them will help you to better listen and learn from others about their struggles. We will explore effective ways to advocate for them and alongside them as well as for yourself.

"The things that make us special"
There is something inside each of us that makes us special! This highly interactive lecture is geared toward younger elementary school age audiences. It focuses on helping kids understand that the differences that we each bring to this world is what makes each of us so very important. Jon brings the opportunity for kids to see this firsthand, speaking openly about his living with cerebral palsy and the commonalities between his life and theirs.

"SUCCESS BEGINS WITHIN"
It's time for that big change! This lecture focuses on navigating the transition between high school and college. Together as an audience, you will discover the importance of self empowerment, self-awareness and self love when navigating the sometimes difficult transition into new learning and living environments and understand how these things can also lead us to become more successful students and people.

As an educator, you are surrounded by so many different people every single day, including your students. Here lies your true power. In this lecture geared specifically toward educators, you will examine the overwhelming importance of understanding that each student you interact with carries their own story and learn ways in which to help create validating, uplifting and empowering educational spaces for the student and the educator alike.

"Love on wheels"
I want love, but sometimes it feels like no one sees me. This intimate workshop covers the intersection of sexuality and disability. It involves discussions surrounding ableism and disability stereotypes. It analyzes how ableist thought is often ingrained within our searches for significant others, as well as how we can work together to empower ourselves and work to deconstruct ableist thought and systems within our communities.
Target audience: ages 17-18+
"power through poetry"
Words can be our most powerful keys to self-expression. During this workshop, Jon will share some of his personal poetry and work with groups to challenge them to tap into their vulnerabilities. Individuals will engage in self reflective dialogues with their groups to help them create and share personal poems together that can help them authentically express whatever emotions they may be feeling without any barriers or judgement.
